'Black Ops 2' to replace "Killstreaks" with "Score Streaks"
Activision have revealed at Gamescom that the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will replace the long standing "killstreaks" with "score streaks".
"Score Streaks" will give players bonuses for completing tasks as well as making kills. Completing objectives, capturing flags, defending teammates, and earning assist points will allow your "Score Streak" to extend. Bonuses for different levels of score streaks will allow you to call in RX-XD, UAV, VTOL Warship, Lodestar and X9 Unit.
Another score streak option that you will be rewarded with is The Guardian, as seen in one of latest trailers for the game. The Guardian is a Humvee with a high powered gun attached to it. It is a score streak reward that will be useful in ground based operations.
The AGR is a tank reward option that is activated by throwing a smoke canister and having the vehicle air dropped independently across the map. You will be able to control the tank with the use of the X button or have it drive on its own.
Other rewards include the Hellstorm missile that is used much like a cluster bomb and controlled from the ground by the player. The Escort Drone is controlled by the AI and will make kills on its own. Treyarch has made note that if the player has the correct loadout these vehicles can be brought down, at times with just the use of an EMP grenade.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out in November for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
