MercurySteam Done With 'Castlevania' After 'Lords of Shadow 2'
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow developer, MercurySteam, have stated their intent to "move on" from the franchise after the upcoming sequel.
Speaking in a recent interview with Game Informer, the game's producer David Cox stated that Lords of Shadow 2 will be the studio's last foray with the Castlevania franchise.
“Our intention is to tell our story and then move on to other things."
“We have a very interesting tale to tell – a story about Dracula. Our intention was to tackle the story from his perspective and give players an angle on his viewpoint.
“We have no intention of milking the series any further than that. I believe that any story worth telling should have a satisfying ending. This one has exactly that, and once its told I hope our audience will enjoy the saga as a unique and interesting take on the Castlevania mythology."
MercurySteam has stated in the past that while they loved developing the first Lords of Shadow title, they don't just want to be known for that franchise alone. “We have a very interesting tale to tell – a story about Dracula. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is out next year for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
