Stainless Games: "Humor is the Key" to Selling Games
Carmageddon developer Stainless Games recently stated that "humor is the key" when it comes to selling games and making them worthwhile.
Neil Barnden, Carmageddon reboot director, said to a crowd at Develop that the studio never expected to offend anyone with the original Carmageddon title and he would be "heartbroken" if the reboot doesn't do the same. The game's co-director Patrick Buckland also stated that the violence found in the upcoming reboot is that like a "Tom and Jerry cartoon".
“There are so few games that let people laugh out loud,” he said. “We really hope this one will.”
Carmageddon: Reincarnation raised nearly $625,200 via Kickstarter, surpassing their goal of $400,000 and insuring that a Mac and Linux version of the game will be made to go along with the PC version. The game is due out February 2013.
