FIFA Dev Team Still Worried That PES Could Make A Comeback
David Rutter, FIFA 13 producer, has recently admitted that the developing team behind the popular soccer title are still worried that Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer could make a comeback.
PES had been FIFA's only rival stretching back to the early 2000's but poor outings the past five years have established as FIFA as number one and PES as clearly as number two in the soccer video game world.
In a recent interview with CVG Rutter stated;
“There are other things out there."
“We’re still worried about what Konami is going to do with Pro Evolution Soccer and naturally they’re our closest sports competitor."
Rutter commented on the dev studio being housed in Canada, by all accounts not a soccer country. “We’re still worried about what Konami is going to do with Pro Evolution Soccer and naturally they’re our closest sports competitor."
“”I think actually being in Canada is a bit of an advantage as well because we’re away from all the, ‘woohoo,” said Rutter.
“Look how amazing we are!’ We don’t see the shops with tonnes of FIFA copies in them, or see the launch or hear about it on the news. We’re far enough away that we’re this little isolated pod of negative nerds all working on FIFA.”
FIFA 13 is out this fall for all major consoles.
