Google+ Adds Games
If you're a member of the brand new social network, Google+, lucky you as the company is now adding browser games to the network.
An announcement was made on the Google Blog that it will begin featuring third-party games starting today. Those games are; Angry Birds, Bejeweled Blitz, Bubble Island, City of Wonder, Collapse! Blast, Crime City, Diamond Dash, BioWare's Dragon Age: Legends, Dragons of Atlantis, Edge World, Flood-It!, Monster World, Sudoku, Wild Ones, Zombie Lane, and Zynga Poker.
Google+ still wants to keep their social network from becoming too wide open such as Facebook, who allows just about anyone to create a page and then spam it. Google has developed an app control feature that will allow you to block content from games that you do not wish to see.
“Because we want to provide both a great user experience and a great developer experience, we’re focusing on quality before quantity,” the blog noted.
“We will continue to add new partners and new features in small steps, starting with today’s release of the games APIs to a small number of developers.”
This might scare off your smaller developers but it should entice them to create mindful browser titles as Google+ only cashes in on 5% of microtransactions that take place, where as Facebook takes 30%. “We will continue to add new partners and new features in small steps, starting with today’s release of the games APIs to a small number of developers.”
