Blizzard Talks New MMO
Mike Morhaime, Blizzard CEO, spent some time talking about the developers new MMO and how it will be vastly different from their bread and butter, World of Warcraft.
In an interview with Ars Technica, Morhaime said;
“We’re really trying to leverage all the lessons we learned through the years. Some of which we were able to address in ‘World of WarCraft’ and others that maybe because of the design decisions we’ve made, you just can’t address. So we’re kind of taking a step back with all that knowledge to make something that’s completely new and fresh. We’re not trying to make a ‘WoW’ sequel,” he said while speaking in Las Vegas.
Apparently this new MMO will share the spotlight with World of Warcraft instead of taking a back seat and finding its niche. Blizzard said that this new MMO will focus on the social aspects of gaming with Morhaime saying that they've taken notes from the iPhone's "Words With Friends" game.
There was no word on what type of game it will be, but it's expected to blow everyone away, of course.
