Japan’s 17-BIT Studio are Special Guests at The Game Expo 2026
We're thrilled to announce the first wave of guest announcements for THE GAME EXPO, Australia's home grown gaming culture festival, which is coming up at Melbourne Convention Centre on March 14-15, 2026.
Joining us from Kyoto, Japan, are three members of international development studio, 17-BIT. Jake Kazdal, the art director and CEO, is an industry pioneer, being one of the first western developers to work in Japan. His credentials include classic SEGA titles Space Channel 6 and REZ.
Joining Jake will be audio director and sound designer Ally Mobbs, and producer Steve Heller, who will attend and showcase their new game ahead of release. AWAYSIS is a physics based dungeon crawling brawler, with 4-player co-op, fitting with the 17-BIT approach to bringing genres into the modern day.
You can get hands on with AWAYSIS and meet 17-BIT at The Game Expo, at Melbourne Convention Centre on March 14-15, 2026. Tickets are available from www.thegameexpo.com
The full schedule of guest panels, musical performances, signings and workshops will be announced closer to the show.
