HuntCry? Crytek announces HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age
Only a day after announcing Homefront: The Revolution, Crytek has revealed a new IP, titled HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age.
HUNT will be a four-player action game set in a mythic version of the late 19th century. Players will use pistols, crossbows, shovels, and other weapons to slay all manner of monsters.
It also appears that the game will feature a "special content generation system" that will promises that players will never encounter exactly the same environment or set of enemies twice. Crytek also hinted that there would be "grueling boss battles" that will require teamwork to defeat.
It should be noted that the developer is Crytek USA, formed largely by the ex-employees of Vigil Games, developers of Darksiders. That means that, even if this is a Crytek game, it won't be made by the same team that made Far Cry, Crysis, and Ryse. (Perhaps that's why this is the first Crytek game not to have "Ry" in the title.)
It is also worth noting that the game is to be part of Crytek's "Games-as-a-Service" program, along with the free-to-play Arena of Fate. What that means pricing-wise has yet to be announced.
Crytek promises that we'll be able to see the gameplay in action at E3. Closed beta testing is planned for PC later this year.
