Respawn removes game modes from Titanfall's PC version, causing fan outcry

Last Thursday, Respawn removed Capture the Flag and Pilot Hunter from the PC version of Titanfall.

Said Respawn:

We have an amazing and large PC audience with the vast majority of users predominantly playing Attrition and Hardpoints game modes. CTF and Pilot Hunter have not been widely used modes on the PC version. Players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience. We want to make sure that not only is there compelling content in the playlists we offer, but that the experience of joining a match works well. We’re tracking what playlists players are choosing, and we’re going to continue to look at unpopular playlists and add new ones on both platforms.

However, since then, many fans have cried out their disapproval throughout the internet.

The statements made by Respawn seem to have only added fuel to the fire, as well, as Respawn's attitude seems to be, "Since you have to wait five minutes to play your favorite game mode, why don't we just remove it altogether? It's for your own good. Honest." Making matters worse is that CTF and Pilot Hunter have been replaced with two new game modes, which require you to purchase the recent Expedition DLC. Not only does that cost money (essentially making you pay to get the same amount of content that the game had when you first purchased it), it also requires navigating through Origin's clunky interface.

Titanfall's website continues to list CTF and Pilot Hunter as playable game modes, without any mention that they are absent from the PC version. Some fans wonder if new PC players will purchase the game and wonder where these game types are, ignorant of their removal due to the game's dishonest marketing.

It is worth noting that the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game remain fully intact.

Perhaps soon Respawn will listen to the fans and bring all of Titanfall's game types back to PC. We'll see.
