A Hat In Time now available for pre-order
Indie developer Gears for Breakfast has announced that their colorful "collect-a-thon" platformer A Hat In Time is now available for pre-order.
There are several pre-order packages available: the $20 Standard Edition, which just contains the base game; the $70 Deluxe Edition, which includes two copies of the base game (one for a friend), access to the beta build, access to the alpha build, and the soundtrack. Players who order the Standard Edition can also upgrade to Alpha/Beta access to try out the early builds. Some players who helped backed the game on Kickstarter will also get Alpha/Beta access, if they pledged enough.
A Hat in Time is inspired by such games as Mario 64, Banjo Kazoie, and Legend of Zelda, and hopes to recapture the magic of that genre. (Much like the soon-to-be-released The Last Tinker.) It will cast gamers as Hat Kid, a time traveller who is collecting the “Time Pieces” around the universe to stop the mischievous Mustache Girl who seeks to use them for evil.
The game was successfully funded on Kickstarter June 28, 2013, making a whopping $296,360. (Its initial goal was $30,000.)
