Valve opens beta for Steam Reviews
Valve has announced a new reviews feature for Steam, and has already put it into open beta.
The new feature will let gamers write reviews for games on Steam, as well as rate and comment on each others' reviews. Valve describes it as "an evolution" of the recommendations system introduced in 2010.
To write a review, a player must have launched the game through Steam. Purchase is not required, but launching is. Reviewers also can select what language they are writing the review in.
Most interestingly, a game's developers can comment on the reviews of fans, and will be flagged as its developers. The option is thus there to communicate with developers directly. While they are unable to remove negative reviews, they can flag offensive content for removal.
More information about Steam Reviews is available on the new Reviews section of Steam's website.
