A First For eSports: An Official MLG Stadium Is Being Built
After partnering with Lai Fung Holdings Limited and eSun Holdings Limited, Major League Gaming is now on the path to building the world's first stadium dedicated to eSports, and it is the first building project at the center of a much larger scheme to create what backers are calling the "Creative Culture City" which is an effort to turn Hengqin Island in China into an even more grand example of a tourist destination.
In an interview with onGamers, Mike Sepso the president of MLG gave his thoughts on the project including the following;
"This is a massive development in one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. Additionally, the China gaming market is enormous and the fastest growing on earth. The anticipated launch of the MLG Arena in 2017 will give MLG a very strong foothold in that market, but also a marquis travel destination to showcase eSports at the highest level."
He also went onto say that partnerships with existing stadiums, specifically in the USA, will be announced in full later this year.
