The amount of hard drive space needed is reaching onward a bit which could imply that the game itself has a lot of content, or is poorly optimized and lacking file compression to save space. There also isn't nearly as big of a window between the minimum and recommended GPUs for Shadows of Mordor which may leave a bad taste in the mouth of those with lower budget gaming PCs who have recently built them.
The specs were initially listed yesterday on the Steam page for the game, but many at first thought they were only inaccurate placeholders until the developer confirmed their authenticity as the real deal.
Announced in late 2013, Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor is an RPG that several have compared to as a Lord of the Ring's inspired cross between Red Dead Redemption and the Assassin's Creed series. The developers state the the game will offer an original storyline of new characters and events set between the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The game is currently slated to be released on October 7, 2014.
