Mirror's Edge Catalyst announcement trailer
DICE released Mirror’s Edge back in 2008. It was a new, fresh and exciting big-budget game, even if it did still involve guns and a first-person perspective. Despite being well-received, EA seemed to be unsure whether or not to do a sequel, and so fans of the original were left waiting. Finally, a new game in the series has been announced, a prequel: Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst.
DICE have already revealed several new features for the parkour action game. The game will no longer involve players using firearms. Instead, there seems to be more of a focus around hand-to-hand combat and martial arts. Secondly, Catalyst allows you to explore a larger open-world cityscape as opposed to funnelling you down more linear sets of levels like in the original. You’ll be able to get a good idea of the aesthetic and tone of the upcoming game from the E3 announcement trailer below.
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst has a release date of February 23, 2016.
