Netflix announces partnership with Don't Nod on new upcoming game
French developer Don't Nod, known for their work on Life is Strange, and more recently, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, has as of today entered a new partnership with Netflix. In a press statement issued alongside its most recent 2025 financial disclosures, Don't Nod would state:
DON’T NOD announces the signing of a development agreement with Netflix for the creation of a new narrative video game based on a major IP. Through this agreement, DON’T NOD will develop a new narrative experience that builds on the studio’s recognized expertise in the genre. The project is currently in development at the Montreal studio and will be published by Netflix.
Longtime Life is Strange fans have been quick to run to social media with claims that said deal confirmed that new Life is Strange games and potential TV show adaptations were confirmed to air on Netflix. However, even a superficial reading of the announcement clarifies the relationship between the studio and the streaming giant.
Setting aside the obvious fact that DON'T NOD doesn't even own the Life is Strange IP, but rather Square Enix does, the published press release clarifies that DON'T NOD will be operating effectively as a paid contractor, tasked with adapting existing Netflix-owned IPs into interactive video game format.
So for those of you hoping to jump into Stranger Things' terrifying upside-down world, you may get your chance sooner rather than later. Personally, I wouldn't mind an Addams Family game...
