'Defiance' TV show canceled, but game lives on.

After three excellent seasons, the Syfy show Defiance has been cancelled. While this is upsetting news to fans of the show, you can take solace in the fact that the game will continue to live on.

Defiance premiered on TV in April 2013 alongside the game, which was playable on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 alongside the PC. Defiance initially started as a paid title, but later became a free-to-play model. The game developer stated that the MMO might be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 if their fanbase becomes large enough.

While the show and the game are set in the same universe they were always intended to be separate, with one taking place in St. Louis and the other set in the San Francisco Bay Area but there were moments when the game influenced the show (for better or for worse is a topic for another day.) Syfy has stated in the past that Defiance was a groundbreaking series, providing a deep and cross-platform experience that moved beyond the TV screen in a completely different way that viewers never experienced before. Defiance was a good show and it’s a pretty fun game. I wish it the best of luck as it strikes off on its own.
