J.J. Abrams is teaming up with developers to make action-strategy RPG
JJ Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is teaming up with his very own production company, Bad Robot and games developer Chair. It was announced today that the studio has been working on a new action game called Spyjinx that will launch for PC and mobile devices in early 2016.
There are not many details as of yet, but we do know it will be running in Unreal Engine 4. A description from the Spyjinx website reads "SPYJINX is a unique mix of action strategy gameplay, dynamic world building and RPG character development – all set in a thrilling, treacherous world of espionage". The game's official description then goes on to reveal that closed beta hopefuls should "register today!".
In the video below, Donald Mustard describes Spyjinx as a "unique blend between kind of like an action-strategy game, mixed with really dynamic building and a healthy dose of RPG character development". Abrams adds "It's not quite like anything".
I will be keeping a close on Spyjinx, and have registered for closed beta access. Now we just need Abrams to announce a Stars Wars RPG!
