It's a Conspiracy

The Bourne movie franchise has had three very successful installments to date and grown a huge fan base because of it. The Bourne Conspiracy, a new game developed by High Moon Studios and conjunction with screenwriter Tony Gilroy hopes to capitalize that success by complementing the series. A unique blend of hand-to-hand combat, shooting and driving all seamlessly integrated into this action packed title. Prepare to use your heightened sense to recognize dangerous situations, use whatever means necessary to defeat your foes and survive no matter what the odds. Become the perfect weapon, become Bourne.

The Assassin

The Bourne films followed an overall arching plot that was escaping and surviving at any cost. The game puts you in the shoes of Bourne as the assassin; you will finally be able to be the extremely trained killer on missions that the books and movies alluded to. A large part of the game's missions structure is set up as flash backs. Taking place during the Bourne Identity time line, you will be able to play missions from the past and those from the movie. A few locations such as Lithuania, Paris, and Zerg have been announced but you can be sure to travel all over Europe.

The Bourne in the game is not the Bourne we all know and love. The famed actor, Matt Damon, was in negotiations in the early stages of development with High Moon to lend his voice and likeness to the game but took issue with the level of violence and pulled out. It seems a bit odd because for other movie-to-game adaptations like Iron Man or the upcoming Hellboy game, the actors are more than willing to supply their assets. But Matt Damon refused so there is no association with the character in the game and the actor in the movies because of this.

Combat

Combat is a huge part of the game and the most memorable thing about the movies. The formula here hasn't been changed, it's still Kahli mixed with a bit of Geet Kendo. Jeff Imada, the fight coordinator from the films, has also helped production to make sure that the experience in the game is as close to the movie as possible. Bourne, being the trained assassin that he is, uses everything in the environment to dispose of his enemies. Pencils, books, chairs, carts, windows, walls… it's all fair game to use in a fight. For instance, if you are fighting someone in an office setting, you can land a one-two-three combo, pick up a book and smash it into a guy's face then finish him by slamming him in the wall nearby.

The combat is very fluid and easy to get into but has layers of depth for the player to explore. When Bourne is in a fight he has an adrenaline meter that he can use to deal critical damage. After downing a few foes, the meter will be filled and with the press of a button a devastating combo is performed and the enemy finished off, using the environment. This meter works when you are in gun combat as well. Instead of fists to the face, it's bullets to the face and they all go down in a very cinematic fashion. Speaking of guns, you will have no shortage of firearms with the standard hand gun, shotgun, and machinegun trio available for you to take off downed enemies.
