It isn't all about Aerosmith (cntd)
As for the Aerosmith music, you can expect the ratio to be around 60/40. Aerosmith hits like “Dream On”, “Sweet Emotion”, and “Walk This Way” are all included. Some lesser known songs like “Mama Kin”, “Love in an Elevator”, and “Rag Doll” are also included. All Aerosmith songs are masters, and in some cases where masters couldn’t be found, the band re-recorded songs specifically for the game. In all, over 40 songs should be included in the game.
“Jaded” (Aerosmith song title from 2001 album “Just Push Play”) Guitar Hero players will remember the release of the first Guitar Hero expansion,
Rocks the 80’s. The game received a so-so reception, as it was a full-priced game for 30+ songs.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith should be around the same price, but it’s up to you to decide if 40+ songs are worth 60 dollars.
Not as difficult
This time, Neversoft is addressing one of the main concerns of
Guitar Hero 3. Many players complained that near the end of the game on harder difficulties a brick wall was put up. Because of this, many couldn’t get by and finish the game. In Aerosmith, the difficulty has been tweaked a bit to help casual players.
There is only one boss battle in the game, and it is skippable. In another improvement over GH3, Hammer-On and Pull-Offs have been made less soft. Finally, the drummer animations have been greatly improved, so it never really looks like one of those robotic clapping monkeys is playing along.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will feature cut scenes similar to the animated ones from GH3. Along with the story mode, the game will include the same modes as GH3. These include Quick Play, Online modes like Face-off and Pro-Face-off (score battles), and leaderboards. However, a co-op career will not be included
Guitars to order
The game will be available on disc only or in a bundle pack. The bundle pack will include a Les Paul wireless controller (In my opinion, the best guitar controller out there), an Aerosmith guitar faceplate, the game, as well as an Aerosmith tour book. The PS2 pack will come with the Kramer wireless controller.
While there will not be bonus songs to buy from the store, you will be able to purchase guitars specifically chosen by the band’s guitarists, and due to the recent Gibson-Activision law suit, this could be one of the last games to include licensed guitars.
One Aerosmith to go
All costumes for characters from GH3 are included, as well as some new ones. Many people weren’t impressed with the character designs from GH3, so don’t expect that much improvement. Their will be no DLC for Aerosmith, but Activision has confirmed that DLC for GH3 will continue after
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith’s launch.
While
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith might not be for all (see: Aerosmith haters), the premise is intriguing. Is it possible that other bands could get the same treatment? Either way, Guitar Hero Aerosmith should provide some great fun for Guitar Hero and Aerosmith fans. Prepare to “Walk This Way” in June.
