Let it snow!

City Folk revolves around a real-time clock and calendar. Using this, the weather can change in your town and holidays can occur. As a result of the climate changing, certain types of fish and bugs will no longer be available. The game truly is a wild world because you never know what's going to happen next!

WiiSpeak together

Animal Crossing, as one can tell, focuses primarily on communication. By connecting to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, players can experience the joys of traveling from town to town and interacting with other animals. To do this, players need to exchange friend codes and arrange a meeting time so that the village about to receive a guest can open their town gate. Up to four people can be in a town at one time, and unlike Wild World, the town doesn't shut down. Visitors can participate in fishing tourneys and bug-offs among many other activities.

Released simultaneously with the game was an accessory called WiiSpeak. This peripheral is essentially a microphone that allows an entire room of people to communicate with other rooms. It isn't quite the best invention ever seeing as there really isn't a whole lot of privacy. Almost anyone in a neighboring room can listen in on your conversation so you should probably think twice about what you want to say before you say it.

Festive, jolly, bright... It is my world, each and everyday

From a graphical standpoint, City Folk is bright, festive, and jolly, but face it, the Wii's certainly capable of more. In this situation though I can understand the developers taking the easy route out in order to appeal to casual gamers and to retain the look of previous games, but a little more detail wouldn't have killed them, would it?

I always found the music in Animal Crossing and City Folk doesn't disappoint. The peaceful and tranquil music found in previous games can still be found here, but a lot of it is recycled. The new tunes that have been added are fine, but a couple of more wouldn't have hurt.

Live Your Life

Despite being a rehash of the previous games, City Folk is still a great game. The controls work great, the gameplay is just as fun as ever, and the replay value is still through the roof. I absolutely love the game and have a blast playing it every time I pick up my Wii Remote. Though it may not be ideal for series veterans like myself, the game is still a great addition to anyone's Wii library.
