The Creative GigaWorks T3 2.1 Speakers look more or less like any run-of-the-mill 2.1 PC speaker set, but with one exception: the subwoofer professes a total of three separate 6.5” drivers in order to deliver deep, but very clear bass.

Extremely lucid bass
The Creative GigaWorks T3 2.1 Speakers look more or less like any run-of-the-mill 2.1 PC speaker set, but with one exception: the subwoofer professes a total of three separate 6.5” drivers in order to deliver deep, but very clear bass. The satellites are a bit less impressive as far as their appearance goes, but their simplicity is what makes them easy to fit into any PC desk environment.

Design
Creative GigaWorks T3 Speakers
As was already mentioned in the intro, the centrepiece of the GigaWorks T3 speaker set is the 50W subwoofer, the front and sides of which are dominated by the 6.5” bass drivers and at the back of which are all the connectors that you need – including a separate bass volume knob. Given that you will likely put this unit under your desk and against a wall, the bass volume knob becomes very hard to reach. Fortunately, once you have found a setting that you like, you rarely have to crawl under your desk to tweak it. The other connectors are outputs to the satellites and sound inputs from the PC. Also, there's an input for the very handy “remote” control that I'll discuss further on.

The 15W left and right satellite speakers may appear small and flimsy at first look, but they are actually reassuringly heavy, with enough heft to stay put on your desk even with slight bumps on the way. The satellites are also stylish in a nondescript way and you will not be ashamed to have them on your desk.

The remote control pod is perhaps the best ever wired remote that I've seen. The bulbous design offers great grip and the large knob works as a combined volume adjustment and power switch. Furthermore, the knob offers silky smooth adjustment of volume, the kind of which I've never experienced with any PC speaker sets. For once, you can get just the volume output that you want, rather than having the set jump from slightly too quiet to way too loud when you turn the knob the slightest amount. The pod also features the usual headphones and Aux in connectors.

Sounds
All in all, the 50W subwoofer with the two 15W satellites offers a great frequency response from 30Hz to 20kHz. And it is not just the frequency response, but the fidelity of sound that you'll appreciate. The subwoofer offers excellent bass that is in tune with the higher frequencies of the satellites, so that the bass never overpowers the other sound frequencies, but complements them perfectly. This perfect cooperation between the bass unit and the satellites may be because of the so-called SLAM design (Symmetrically Loaded Acoustic Module) of the subwoofer.

Creative GigaWorks T3 Speakers
As far as PC speakers go, these offer the top-of-the-line sounds, especially if you consider the relatively affordable price of slightly above 150 euros. Pricier sets may offer even better sounds, but the Creative GigaWorks T3 2.1 is certainly the best you can get in this price range. The sound is crisp and clear, the bass truly enjoyable both in movies and in games and the silky smooth control offered by the remote pod ices the cake.

Overall
Overall, the Creative GigaWorks T3 2.1 Speakers deliver a great price-quality ratio. They are definitely something you should experience for yourself if you are in the market for a new 2.1 speaker set – perhaps even if you had been considering a more expensive set in the first place. At the end of our review period, we were very reluctant to disassemble the speakers from our testing table and putting them back into the box that they came in. We almost hope that Santa will give us the opportunity to open a similar box not too far into the future...
