Every month we will introduce you to the top 5 games that cause our editors to salivate at the thought of playing them. It should be mentioned that a game doesn't end up on this list easily: each of them went through a rigorous selection process that involves lots of bruised skin and the occasional black eye. Not to be missed!
Mass Effect 2
The original Mass Effect is heralded as one of the XBOX 360's best games, so it should come as no surprise that the return of Commander Shepard would be one of the most anticipated games of early 2010 but anticipation for the title has reached epic proportions. With each new piece of information fans of the title have gotten more and more excited and developer BioWare does not seem like it is going to let off the gas this time around. An all star voice cast, a re-worked graphics engine, improved combat, a more dynamic conversation system, a more epic story and the lack of terrible boring elevator rides all make Mass Effect 2 something that is shaping up to be extraordinarily special.

Action fans are in for an early 2010 present with Bayonetta. It marks the third game, out of four, that Platinum Games (the ex-Clover Studios contingent) has been contracted to make for Sega and it may very well be its most marketable game out of the three. Bayonetta is an action-adventure title in the vein of Devil May Cry, which should come as no surprise being as it is directed by original DMC director, Hideki Kamiya. Kamiya has gone all out this time though as this game is shaping up to be one of the most stylish and overtly sexual games ever while still providing an entirely unique experience and an all out evolution of the genre.

Divinity II: Ego Draconis is a fantasy Role-Playing Game that comes from the hand of German based developer Larian Studios. It is the sequel to Divine Divinity which was a huge success in Europe but unfortunately did not garner a large following in the US. This is a shame, because it was a great game that deserved more airplay than it received. Not in the least because German developers are masters at crafting rich and vibrant game worlds, especially in a medieval or fantasy setting. If you combine that with Larian's track record with Divinity and their great ability at telling stories, then this game is certainly one to watch.

To be honest, Darksiders wasn't on our radar at all until quite recently. So if the game isn't on yours, we can't really blame you for that. Things changed in November when a host of new trailers came out, detailing the fast paced action of the game. Crisp, stylishly created graphics and some of the best special effects we have seen in any game won us over indefinitely. What impresses us most are the epic environments and foes that you will travel through and defeat. Many of your opponents will tower over you and make you feelas tiny as an ant looking up to a person. But not all ants are created equal. Darksiders's cool looking protagonist is incredibly powerful and it is up to you to guide him to victory.

Whereas Darksiders is epic in the way of graphics, MAG is epic in the way of the number of concurrent players in the game. MAG is a PS3 exclusive that allows up to 256 players to participate in a single game. Upon joining a new game, players join one of three factions and fight each other on some of the biggest maps you will have ever seen in an online shooter. The background against all this online carnage is set, moves the player forward into the not so distant future of 2025. Nations no longer maintain large armies but make use of large Private Military Corporations to maintain peace throughout the world. These corporations prove difficult to keep in hand and soon grow out to be too large for the world to control.
