Tim Schafer, the genius behind
Grim Fandango,
Psychonauts and most recently
Brutal Legend, has revealed that he's not too keen on Activision CEO Bobby Kotick. This was revealed in an interview with
Eurogamer.
People who were following
Brutal Legend will know that it was originally to be published by Activision and there was a lawsuit over the game so Schafer definitely has good reasoning for this. However, the main reason for his resentment is simply the way he acts and what he says.
Some recently released games have had clear superior versions.
Bayonetta ran a lot better on the 360 and
Final Fantasy XIII ran better on the PS3. Fortunately,
Deus Ex: Human Revolution will not be following in their footsteps.
David Anfossi told
VG247, “The experience will be the same on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The same mechanics – everything is the same."
IO Interactive has just announced that
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has gone gold and will now release one week ahead of schedule. In North America, the game will now be released on August 17 and in Europe (and other PAL territories) it will be released August 20.
The first
Kane & Lynch was generally received as a mediocre title but it looks as if the second one is making a large improvement. It will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Rockstar has been very quiet regarded their 40's inspired detective game,
LA Noire but it sounds like details may be coming soon. They revealed to
Connected Consoles that "there will be further updates to follow on LA Noire in the coming weeks."
The idea of a 1940's L.A. with gameplay on par with
Grand Theft Auto IV is a very promising one so I'm looking forward to finally getting a substantial amount of information.
Valve has revealed that the newest playlist in the mutation mode of
Left 4 Dead 2 is titled "Four Swordsmen of the Apocalypse" on the
games' blog. As you've probably guessed, this sees the survivors fighting off hordes of infected armed with nothing but swords. From the blog:
"Armed with only swords the survivors face near continuous streams of Special Infected ready to be sliced and diced."
Fighting infected is always fun; fighting them with swords is even better.
Polyphony Digital have started a competition with the reward to be a place in the credits of
Gran Turismo 5 under the "Special Thanks" section. The competition details can be found on the games'
official site and requires you to come up with a name for the song used in the trailer shown at this years E3 conference.
Lyrics, along with the full song can be found on the site and you have until July 25 before the competition closes. It was revealed at Sony's E3 conference that
Gran Turismo 5 will
finally be released November 2.
Remember back on the PlayStation, there was that game,
MediEvil, where you played as a goofy skeleton who knew how to handle a sword? Do you also remember the sequel,
MediEvil 2? What about the PSP remake,
MediEvil: Resurrection? Well, they were quite good and it sounds like there's a new one in development.
In the latest issue of PSM3, they say that a new
MediEvil game is being made by Sony Cambridge. No other details have been given and there's been no confirmation either but it would be great to see another title in series. Presumably, it will be on PS3 and not PSP.
Yesterday, it was revealed that Platinum Games'
Vanquish would be released in Japan on
October 26. Now, Sega have revealed there will be DLC for the game which players can also obtain from pre-ordering the game.
If you pre-order the game, you will receive a code that unlocks a “Boost Machine Gun”, a “Anti Armor Pistol” and a “Laser Cannon.” If you don't pre-order you'll be able to obtain this content weeks after launch.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, first released in October 2002 which was nearly 8 years ago, has just appeared on the Australian Classification Board (OFLC). Seems a little late, does it not?
The listing mentions that it is a "MODIFIED" version of the game, though. To me, this suggests that an updated version may be appearing on a newer console or on a download service. I would put my money on it appearing on the PlayStation Network.
Bioware posted on their
Twitter account that tomorrow will be a "great day for BioWare fans". Unfortunately, there's not much to go on but the fact it's Bioware gives me hope that it will be something good. This could be anything ranging from a new game being announced to more DLC for current titles.
It's worth pointing out that they say "Bioware" fans rather than say a specific game. Now, this could just be to make it more of a surprise but it could also mean multiple announcements. Either way, we'll have to wait until tomorrow before finding out.
In an interview with
CVG, Peter Molyneux revealed that the
Grand Theft Auto series has been a major influence on some parts of
Fable III. It has had the biggest influence on the way they handled the menus.
Rather than go for the standard "press start", Lionhead opted to incorporate The Sanctuary instead. This is basically a collection of rooms for your inventory, maps and so on where you can walk about rather than scroll through a menu.
A "big announcement" is being teased by
Capcom's European Twitter account and will apparently be revealed in 2 days. This announcement could be absolutely anything. Of course, there's no way to know what it is so you'll just have to sit tight for the next 2 days.
Here's the tweet:
"Big announcement… 2 days to go!"
Sega has confirmed to
VG247 that the company will not be attending this years gamescom. The reasoning behind this is all down to a "commercial decision made for 2010.”. This means that
Sonic 4,
Valkyria Chronicles 2 and other big Sega games won't be shown at gamescom.
“gamescom 2009 was a very successful show for us and continues to be the most important European event in the calendar. The decision not to show at this year’s event was not down to the location of Cologne and will not mean that Sega will never attend gamescom in the future, but simply a commercial decision made for 2010.”
Square have confirmed that the
Parasite Eve spin-off,
The 3rd Birthday will be coming to Europe. However, no release date has been given; all we know is that it's coming to the EU. The original
Parasite Eve on the PlayStation was never released in Europe but the sequel was.
Despite no release date for Europe, it's currently scheduled to be released sometime this year in Japan, exclusively on the PSP.
July 6 will see the release of a demo for the upcoming
Patapon 3 which will be available to normal PSN users as well as PSN+ users. It's safe to expect plenty of eyeball monsters armed with a range of weapons and chanting to a perfect beat when it you play it.
According to the
PlayStation Blog, the demo will let players play with new characters (Including a Superhero Patapon) and test out the online multiplayer. For all the PSP owners who can't afford a decent memory stick, you'll be happy to know that it will only take up 110MB of your precious space.
