Crackdown 2 Coming This July

Crackdown 2 Coming This July
Today, it was announced that the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive, Crackdown 2, will be released at the beginning of July. Yes, that means you will actually have something to play in the typical gaming summer drought. Well, if you have a 360 anyway.

There's high hopes for the sequel as the original game was praised by many. We'll find out if it meets our expectations on July 6th, 8th and 9th in North America, Asia/Austrailia/New Zealand and Europe respectively.

Insomniac Going Multi-platform?

Insomniac Going Multi-platform?
Insomniac Games, the developers of Resistance, Ratchet & Clank and Spyro the Dragon have always had a strong relationship with Sony but aren't actually owned by the company. Despite this, they have never made a game for anything but Sony consoles. According to IGN, a "trusted source" told them that the developer is becoming a multi-platform developer.

Like I said, Insomniac is an independent studio but they have had a long relationship with Sony. If this rumour is correct, I doubt that Ratchet & Clank or Resistance would come to 360 because Sony have put funding behind the games and as far as we know, they still have some form of relationship.

However, it is likely that any multi-platform games will be new IPs that we haven't seen before. Insomniac refused to comment on the rumour.

Modern Warfare 2 DLC March 30

Modern Warfare 2 DLC March 30
Posted on Robert Bowling's/FourZeroTwo's Twitter was the following:

"http://www.mapathy.com - Feeling the effects of Mapathy? It's okay, the cure is hitting #Xboxlive in just 3 short weeks. #MW2"

If you follow the link to the "Mapathy" website it details that over 20 million people could be at risk from being bored of the current maps available in Modern Warfare 2. Being the kind folks that they are, Infinity Ward had whipped up a cure which they will distribute over Xbox Live on March 30.

If the "Mapathy" talk confuses you, all you need to know is that Infinity Ward have announced that the Modern Warfare 2 DLC will be released on March 30.

Bad Company 2 Is A PC Game

Bad Company 2 Is A PC Game
Nowadays, multi-platform games tend to sell better and have a larger community on consoles rather than PC. However, with DICE's newly released Battlefield: Bad Company 2 that doesn't seem to be the case.

Barrie Tingle, the associate producer of DICE, has revealed that the PC version of Bad Company 2 is the most popular choice for gamers with it selling more than the PS3 and X360 version combined. Battlefield has always been a PC game and that's probably the reason behind the sales.

Bioshock 2 DLC to be released next week

Bioshock 2 DLC to be released next week
New content will be released for Bioshock 2 next week in the form of The Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack. The downloadable content will contain both single and multiplayer content giving you the best of both. Available on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Games for Windows Live on March 11th for 400 points/$4.99 which is a good price.

With this pack, the multiplayer rank will be raised to level 50 which means you can boast about how good you are even more. 2 new playable characters will also become available, alongside 20 new trials, a third weapon upgrade for each weapon and five new masks.

2K have said that this is won't be the only DLC for Bioshock 2 and that we can expect to see more content in the coming weeks.

Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition Later This Month

Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition Later This Month
Square Enix have announced that the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum will getting it's very own Game of the Year edition to be released later this month. This had been rumoured previously after showing up on the ESRB website but now it's been confirmed.

Typically GOTY editions are bundeld with the game plus all of the DLC that was released for it but there was only one piece of DLC for Arkham Asylum and it was free anyway. Hardly justifies a second purchase, does it? However, it comes with more than just the DLC.

The GOTY edition will support "TriOviz 3D". This allows players to experience Arkham Asylum in 3D regardless of whether their TV supports it. I wouldn't mind taking a trip back to Arkham to see it all in complete 3D. However, only the console versions of the game will have this feature. The game will be released for X360, PS3 and PC and will be released on March 26th.

Happy Birthday PS2!

Happy Birthday PS2!
As of today, Sony's PlayStation 2 is now ten years old going by the original Japanese release date. Everybody knows about the huge success of the console and is the best selling home console of all time with over 140 million units sold.

Happy Birthday PS2!

I consider the PS2 one of the best consoles ever made, if not the best, due to its fantastic games library. Without the PS2 I wouldn't be a "hardcore" gamer; it introduced me to so many classic games. Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, God of War, Final Fantasy X are just some of the games I have fond memories playing.

Red Dead Redemption Delayed To May

Red Dead Redemption Delayed To May
Rockstar's upcoming Western based shooter, Red Dead: Redemption has been pushed back to May in North America. Originally it was intended to arrive at the end of April but now it won't see the light of day until May 18th. However, the European release date remains unchanged at May 21st.

The delay was announced by Take-Two's CEO, Ben Feder, during a company conference call.

"We shifted the launch of the game by several weeks into the third quarter. We believe this is the optimal time frame to release what is being hailed as the next generation of sandbox games."

Final Fantasy I and II Head To iPhone

Final Fantasy I and II Head To iPhone
Both Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II are available for iPhone/iPod Touch owners now. The classic role playing games come in at £5.49/$9 each. Rather than suffer for poor visuals, Square were fortunate enough to provide us with a much better looking version of the game with some much improved graphics.

Update On Hendrix Rock Band

Update On Hendrix Rock Band
Harmonix have released an official statement saying that the Jimi Hendrix Rock Band game that was accidentally revealed was incorrect.

An Harmonix spokesperson said: "While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band, we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned."

So, it doesn't look like it's out of the question just yet then. It could appear as DLC rather than a standalone game though.

Jimi Hendrix Rock Band Accidentally Revealed

Jimi Hendrix Rock Band Accidentally Revealed
It appears that Jimi Hendrix, one of the most iconic guitarists ever, will have an entire Rock Band game crafted around him. Hendrix's stepsister, Janie Hendrix, accidentally told the L.A. Times about it in an interview. She mentioned that it would be released before the end of the year. From L.A. Times:

"At the time the deal was completed,"

"Sony vowed to make his music 'available through every type of media' - including a new edition of 'Rock Band' that Janie Hendrix says should appear before the end of this year."

Currently Rock Band: Green Day is in the works and a Hendrix game hasn't been officially announced. I've sent an email to Harmonix though so I'll keep you updated.

90 Minute Darksiders Demo Later This Month

90 Minute Darksiders Demo Later This Month
Upon the release of Darksiders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 there was sadly no demo to show the game off with. However, come the 25th of February this will have changed. It may be a little late but it gives more people the chance to try it out which is always good.

The developers, Vigil Games, agrees that people should get to try the game and decided that a demo would be a good option. Vigil Games also believes the only way to fully try the game is with the Twilight Cathedral which is the game's first level and clocks in at 90 minutes.
