Grand Theft Auto Influenced Fable III

Grand Theft Auto Influenced Fable III
In an interview with CVG, Peter Molyneux revealed that the Grand Theft Auto series has been a major influence on some parts of Fable III. It has had the biggest influence on the way they handled the menus.

Rather than go for the standard "press start", Lionhead opted to incorporate The Sanctuary instead. This is basically a collection of rooms for your inventory, maps and so on where you can walk about rather than scroll through a menu.

This influence came from Molyneux liking how the shops were more than a list in GTA and the items are actually there instead of being in a list.

"I think things like Grand Theft Auto [have influenced us] - the way they use shops rather than doing lists is great," he said. "We've used some of that, especially in The Sanctuary area. I just feel the way that entertainment is going is trying to give us less and less complexity or 'fiddly-ness' and more accessibility."

Fable III will be released for the Xbox 360 October 26 and for the PC shortly after.
