Hooked Gamers - Get Your Game On!

My Thoughts of Halo 3: ODST

Well, it's now September 23, which means that Halo: ODST has been in stores for more than 24 hours. According to VGCHARTZ.com, ODST has sold more than 2 million copies of the game, despite the fact that there was some negative comments about the game. Gamers were concerned about why they were paying full price on what seems like an expansion of the last game more than a full game in itself.

Like a true nerd, I stood in line alongside friends at a midnight release anxiously waiting to get a copy of the game, and after playing for a day I've come up with some conclusions about Halo 3: ODST

Guan's Games To Look Out For: Torchlight

Now, I'm all for MMORPGs, but this game looks very very promising. Torchlight is a downloadable RPG similar to Diablo. According to 1-UP.com, "Runic Games promises that it will set itself apart from other action RPGs with its "intuitive, approachable interface," level randomizer and suite of powerful development tools for building and sharing levels."

Sounds to me like they're putting together Diablo's action and Neverwinter Night's developers tools (minus the DnD style play) to create one awesome game.

Look out for it when it hits shelves October 27th.

New WoW Patch 3.3 Info

I was looking at World of Raids and I came across some information from Blizzcon that got overlooked during my first run-through of all the information. It seems like the next patch is going to be AWESOME for people who run a lot of heroics (like me).

Vydar: WoW's Worst Mage

As much as I love playing a Paladin, my Dual-Spec only allows me to do one of two things: Tank or Heal. I've never really tried the Ret tree (unless you count the 8 or so levels where i tried it back in WoW's first year, which really doesn't count because I was around level 40 and the Ret. tree is so different now), and I've always wanted to top a damage meter. So I made an alt named Vydar, and he became my mage. This also led to one of WoW's most epic fails of all time: Vydar, WoW's Worst Mage.

Dual Speccing: Why I love it; Why I Hate it.

Patch 3.1 introduced us to a totally new way to play WoW with Dual-Speccing. This feature allows players to set up two completely different specs, glyphs, and action bars with the abily to change between the two as the player needed. Blizzard saw that many elite raiding guilds were swapping specs out mid-raid just to help out the raid, and because this took time out of actually raiding, they felt this was the most optimal solution to this dilemma. While there are some great pros about this new feature (and yes, i know this feature isn't the newest feature in the game but it is still fairly new), there are some features about Dual-Speccing that really make me wanna /exit everytime I see it happen.

WoW: Cataclysm. Excited? Most Definietly

After going to mmo-champion and reading up on what could be leaked information about the new World of Warcraft expansion, I thought I would give my insight on how I feel about what could potentially happen to Azeroth.

What is it about video games?

What is it about video games that makes them so addicting? Way before all the high-rez graphics and the controllers that have 37 buttons on them (all which do multiple functions within a game), there were simple games like Super Mario Bros. that required you to do only 2 things: jump on anything that got in your way, and run to the right hand side of the screen until you reached the flag. That was it. There were no cutscenes, no dramatic storyline, no voiceovers from famous actors/actresses, and the graphics weren't even in 3-D. Even still, if you ask anyone on the street if they've played Super Mario Bros, chances are they have, and they loved it.

Why?
