EA Sports has been working on a closed-beta testing project called Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online for about 8 months now, accumulating around 75,000 participants, until now. They have officially announced that despite the allegations and issues surrounding Tiger Woods, they are pushing forward with their gaming project and will be releasing the open-beta testing version to the public, this month.

This news was made public by Peter Moore, President of EA Sports since 2007, by way of his personal blog on the EA Sports website. Moore also gave a steadfast position on where the relationship between Tiger Woods and their company stands.

“Our relationship with Tiger has always been rooted in golf. We didn’t form a relationship with him so that he could act as an arm’s length endorser. Far from it. We chose to partner with Tiger in 1997 because we saw him as the world’s best, most talented and exciting golfer. We struck that partnership with the assumption that he would remain near or at the top of his sport for years to come.”

The game itself is a replication of what one can find when playing a version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour for the Xbox 360 or PS3. You are given the ability to create and customize your very own golfer, compete live against real players, and join communities for dedicated “golf enthusiasts”, all within your internet browser.
