Bioware announces first expansion for Dragon Age: Origins
Right on the heels of news that the Return to Ostagar DLC for Dragon Age: Origins has been
delayed on all platforms comes the announcement that the game's first expansion, Awakening, will be released in March 2010.
The Awakening expansion pack will introduce players to the land of Amaranthine and an all-new, epic storyline that delves into the secrets of the darkspawn and how they survived after the defeat of the Archdemon.
The pack will include new creatures to battle against, such as the Inferno Golem, Spectral Dragon, and a new, intelligent breed of darkspawn. It will also feature the ability to re-spec a character's attributes and an increased level cap, as well as new spells, abilities, items, and party members.
"Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening shows BioWare’s commitment to our fans by delivering new story-driven experiences which enrich the dark heroic fantasy universe our fans have come to know and love,” said Bioware Co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka, Group General Manager of EA's RPG/MMO Group. “The vibrant worldwide community of Dragon Age fans will relish uncovering the secret motivations of the darkspawn, revealing how the darkspawn continue to infest the world despite the defeat of the Archdemon."
Awakening will be available on March 16, 2010 on X360, PS3 and PC for $39.99 and requires Dragon Age: Origins to play.
