November NPDs Released

November NPDs Released
As expected, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 dominated the software charts, moving over 6 million games. New Super Mario Bros. Wii moved over 1.3 million games in the month rounding out the top three.

The hardware numbers shook out a little differently than normal. They were as follows:

Nintendo DS: 1.7M
Wii: 1.26M
360: 816,500
PS3: 710,400
PSP: 293,900
PS2: 203,100

For the first month since August, the PS3 was outsold by the 360. There could be a few reasons for this, namely the humongous sales giant that is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the fact that during the month over 1.5M 360s were banned from Xbox Live. Microsoft's strategy of a mass banning right before Modern Warfare 2 seems to have worked wonders for their sales numbers, as they are back ahead of the PS3.

The software numbers were as follows.

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 360/4.2M
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PS3/1.87M
3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii Wii/1.39M
4. Assassin's Creed II 360/794,700
5. Left 4 Dead 2 360/744,000
6. Wii Sports Resort Wii/720,200
7. Wii Fit Plus Wii/679,000
8. Assassin's Creed II PS3/448,400
9. Dragon Age: Origins 360/362,100
10. Mario Kart Wii Wii/315,000

Totalling a whopping 1.416 billion dollars, believe it or not, is down 3.1% year over year.
