Left 4 Dead 2 Gets Real

Left 4 Dead 2 Gets Real
Like realistic zombie killing? Find that Left 4 Dead was too easy for your elite zombie smashing skills? You'll be pleased to hear that Left 4 Dead 2 is coming with a "Realism" mode, which will require the player to be more skillful and more masochistic than Valve's own testers have, says marketing VP Doug Lombardi to 1UP. Lombardi was light on the details but one would assume that it makes the zombies act more "realistic".

Left 4 Dead 2 Gets Real
At last night's event, Valve revealed a new multiplayer mode, Scavenge, to the public. It is meant to cause more frantic and quicker gameplay than the original's Versus mode.

Scavenge mode still has four human players and four zombie players facing off against one another. The object of the game is to collect as many gas cans as possible, to a maximum of 16, before getting killed by the enemy infected. Infected players can also destroy the gas cans to win as opposed to killing the opposition, but that just would not be as fun now would it? The whole match is timed and each gas can collected and fed to a generator adds twenty seconds to the clock. It is three rounds total, the win going to whichever team collects the most gas cans.

Sounds like a boatload of fun, and easily makes Left 4 Dead 2 worth the price of admission combined with the added campaigns, new versus maps, and new weapons. Don't miss Left 4 Dead 2 when it comes out on PC and 360 later this holiday season on November 17, 2009.
