David Cage doesn't want gamers to have "fun" playing 'Beyond: Two Souls'

Quantic Dreams head man David Cage wants you to to take an "emotional journey" rather than have straight "fun" playing Beyond: Two Souls.

Perhaps Cage is missing the point of video games? In a recent interview with EDGE, Cage stated;
“I don’t want to challenge their thumbs, I want to challenge their minds,” he said.

“My goal is to surprise people, to give them something they want without knowing they want it. I want to create an emotional journey, a unique experience.

“I am not interested in giving them ‘fun’, I want to give them meaning; I don’t want to challenge their thumbs, I want to challenge their minds.”
He said Two Souls will follow the main character over a span of 15 years allowing the player to form a bond with them, allowing the player to actually care what happens within the game.
“Maybe this is irrelevant or just overly ambitious,” he said. “Maybe this is not what most people out there actually want. But this is the goal I set myself with Beyond: to create something different.”
Beyond: Two Souls is out next year for the PlayStation 3.
