Capcom Not Drawing Any Inspiration For RE6 From Past Titles
Capcom has stated that Resident Evil 6 will be a completely fresh and new idea and that the developer will not use any past RE titles as inspiration.
While the game's debut trailer may have reminded most of Resident Evil 4's gameplay and RE6's main characters are Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield; RE4 and RE5's protagonists. Capcom is standing by their assertion that Resident Evil 6 will be a completely fresh take on the franchise.
In an interview with
IGN the game's producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi says that the developing team hasn't used any past RE titles to think back on.
“We have a ton of respect for the past RE games. The ways in which they were each able to provide unique experiences is incredibly important,” he said.
“With RE6 we hope to create an even greater game than the previous entries in the series. That being said, we are not focusing on any previous title in particular.
“What we can say though, is that we do consider the things we have learned from previous RE games to be really beneficial as we make this new title.”
Hirabayashi stated that Kennedy and Redfield are the two main leads in the game because that's where the game's focus is at.
Resident Evil 6 is out on November 20 worldwide for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
