Walt Disney Company Acquires Majority Share Of Ignition
Disney Interactive parent company, The Walt Disney Company, has acquired a majority share of UTV, the parent company of UTV Ignition (El Shaddai & Deadly Premonition).
A
BBC report states that The Walt Disney Company will de-list UTV.
This move was first rumored to be happening back in 2011 with Disney taking an interest to making its presence felt in India, where UTV was based out of. UTV had been having financial troubles for a while now. The firm canceled projects such as "Project Kane" and "Reich". The firm also closed three studios across the globe; Los Angeles, London, and Florida.
Disney Interactive also struggled last year moving to a digital-only medium as a publisher. There is no word on whether or not this acquisition changes Disney's stance on being digital-only.
