Iwata: 2D Super Mario Side Scroller Coming To 3DS Next Year
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is in the business of handing out news bits lately and today is no different with word coming that a 2D Super Mario side-scrolling title will be coming to the 3DS in 2013.
The new title was confirmed during a Nintendo
investor's briefing earlier with Iwata stating that the game will be a "key title" next year. Rumors have stated that Shigeru Miyamoto will be helming the project.
“With the fulfillment of software, we are confident that we will be able to make the Nintendo 3DS active for the full year as the mainstream platform in the video game market,” commented Iwata.
Super Mario 3D Land is the first 3DS title to move more than 5 million copies world wide and the Wii's Super Mario titles have historically done very well financially and criticially.
You can expect an unveil at E3 this year.
