It's on like you-know-who in Donkey Kong Country Returns!

It's on like you-know-who in Donkey Kong Country Returns!

To celebrate the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns, “The Tsunami” Takeru Kobayashi, the king of competitive eating, took on Nintendo’s latest game in a banana eating challenge issued by Nintendo of Canada. The event took place at RioCan Yonge Eglinton Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Saturday November 20, 2010. Kobayashi was able to scarf down a total of 16 bananas in only 60 seconds, a feat everyone's favorite tie-wearing primate would be proud of.

Rumor: Ocarina of Time remake headed to 3DS

Rumor: Ocarina of Time remake headed to 3DS
It appears not all announcements for the 3DS were made during Nintendo's press conference this morning. Along with the revealed Star Fox 64 remake and Paper Mario game for the 3DS, screenshots found on Nintendo's website seem to indicate that a remake of the classic Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will also be headed to Nintendo's new handheld.

Kinect priced by Gamestop

Kinect priced by Gamestop
Kinect priced by Gamestop
So Microsoft may have danced around the price of the upcoming Kinect during their E3 press conference, but that hasn't kept the big game retailer Gamestop from giving that information out. Hope you weren't planning on buying anything expensive for a while, since Kinect could be retailing for $149.99. Also of note is that there will be an Arcade bundle that includes Kinect for $299.99, an Elite bundle for $399.99, and that Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports will be full priced ($59.99). There is no mention if there will be any pack-ins (no mention of Kinectanimals in the list) included in any of the packages, so stay tuned for more.

Pac-Man Cake!

Pac-Man Cake!
It was my birthday on Saturday, and my roommate created what is quite possibly the greatest cake ever to celebrate the occasion. This May also is the 30th anniversary of the beloved yellow circle, so it also celebrates that (but mostly my birthday).

In case anyone was wondering, it was chocolate and it was/is delicious.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Announced

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Announced
After only 10 years of putting up with consumer demand, Capcom has finally decided to announce a new Marvel vs. Capcom game. Announced at this past weeks Captivate 2010 event, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will be hitting store shelves sometime in spring of 2011 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms. For those who aren't into fighting games, the Marvel vs. Capcom series pits mainstays from the two universes in battles similar to Capcom's own Street Fighter series. The last Marvel vs. Capcom game allowed 3 vs 3 battles, and was responsible for seeding the words "Gonna take you for a ride" into the mind of anyone who dared take more than 30 seconds at the character select screen.

What's also interesting is that the game will be using the MT Framework engine, which also powers the upcoming Lost Planet 2. For the trailer and list of confirmed/speculated characters, head past the break!

Liara T'Soni returning in Mass Effect 2 DLC?

Liara T'Soni returning in Mass Effect 2 DLC?
If a few sound files are to believed, Liara T'Soni may be returning to Commander Shepard's squad through the magic of downloadable content. While this is (of course) considered a rumor, the sound files indicates that Cerberus shares details on the Shadow Broker with Commander Shepard. The files were extracted from the PC version of Mass Effect 2.

It may be considered spoiler-ish, so check out the sound file can be found after the break.

Splinter Cell Conviction hampered by freezing

Splinter Cell Conviction hampered by freezing
I sit on my couch thinking about how I have an exam in three days. Instead of doing the rational thing and studying, I have decided to spend most of today playing my beloved Splinter Cell Conviction, which was just released today. I also sit on my couch and stare at the image of Sam Fisher in a hallway with classical art adorning the walls, eternally frozen.

Supposedly a day one patch for the game is causing these issues. Luckily, there is a way around it!

Splinter Cell Conviction Demo on March 18th

Splinter Cell Conviction Demo on March 18th
I'm sure by now you're saying "Jeez, why won't this guy shut up about Splinter Cell Conviction? Every time there is a bit of info on the game, he has to go and make a blog about it. What's so special about it anyway?". First, I would have no choice but to punch you in the face (for being a heretic and everything), and then point you to the upcoming demo of Splinter Cell Conviction that will be released this Thursday (March 18th) on Xbox Live.

To put it simply, if you own a Xbox 360 and don't download this demo, you have no soul.

Modern Warfare 2 'Stimulus Map Pack' details

Modern Warfare 2 'Stimulus Map Pack' details
If a recent Xbox Live Marketplace listing is anything to believe, the first map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will include five maps, of which two are remakes. 'Bailout', 'Storm' and 'Salvage' are the names of the three new maps, while the returning favorites from Modern Warfare 1 are 'Crash' and 'Overgrown'.

The 'Stimulus Map Pack' is scheduled to drop on March 30th exclusively on Xbox Live Marketplace (for a while, anyways). A price has not yet been set. Head past the break for details on the new maps!

Uncharted to the PSP?

Uncharted to the PSP?
If Naughty Dog's co-president Evan Wells has his way, Uncharted just may find itself leaping onto the PSP sometime soon.
"I think it would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld system. Each one of the episodes is sort of like a standalone thing and I think we could do that pretty easily. If we can find a partner to work with, I'd love to do that ... we definitely wouldn't do it ourselves. We're trying to just focus on the PS3 technology and platform right now.

If it's simply a matter of finding the right developer, might I suggest Ready at Dawn, who were behind the 2008 hit God of War: Chains of Olympus, or Sony Bend, developers of Resistance: Retribution and the Syphon Filter PSP games? I for one feel that the Uncharted franchise would be well served in either developer's hands.

New Borderlands DLC drops tomorrow

New Borderlands DLC drops tomorrow
Just in time for mid-term exams, the next piece of Borderlands DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knox will be released tomorrow on Xbox Live for the paltry sum of 800 Microsoft Points (or 10 human dollars). Playstation 3 and PC owners will have to wait until Thursday.

The Secret Armory of General Knox, the third set of DLC for Gearbox's hit Borderlands, will feature "almost 30 new villain types", a new weapon class, vehicle and area to explore. For those who have hit the level cap, it will be raised to 61.

Why not just have the level cap at 60? Because this one goes to 61.
