Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Announced
After only 10 years of putting up with consumer demand, Capcom has finally decided to announce a new Marvel vs. Capcom game. Announced at this past weeks Captivate 2010 event, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds will be hitting store shelves sometime in spring of 2011 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms. For those who aren't into fighting games, the Marvel vs. Capcom series pits mainstays from the two universes in battles similar to Capcom's own Street Fighter series. The last Marvel vs. Capcom game allowed 3 vs 3 battles, and was responsible for seeding the words "Gonna take you for a ride" into the mind of anyone who dared take more than 30 seconds at the character select screen.
What's also interesting is that the game will be using the MT Framework engine, which also powers the upcoming Lost Planet 2. For the trailer and list of confirmed/speculated characters, head past the break!
- Ryu (Street Fighter series)
- Morrigan (Darkstalkers)
- Wolverine
- The Hulk
- Iron Man
- Chris Redfield (Resident Evil series)
The following characters, while not confirmed, may be the silhouettes behind the Marvel and Capcom logos at the beginning of the trailer.
- Dante (Devil May Cry series)
- Viewtiful Joe (Viewtiful Joe series)
- Chun-Li (Street Fighter series)
- Frank West (Dead Rising)
- Captain America
- Dr. Doom
- Deadpool
- Super-Skrull
Of course, it would be safe to assume big names like Thor and Spider-man will show up for the Marvel side, while characters like Mega-Man and Ken should show up for the Marvel side. Of course if Phoenix Wright shows up, I don't see why anyone would play with anything but him.
