Splinter Cell Conviction Co-op and Challenge Modes Revealed
One of the things that made Splinter Cell Chaos Theory so great was the amazing co-op mode that, unlike similar modes in Halo or Gears, actually means you'll have to work together to complete objectives. So it's exciting that the co-op mode for Splinter Cell Conviction along with new challenge modes were revealed in the newest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine UK.
If one complaint could be lodged against the Chaos Theory co-op, it was just too short. Thankfully Conviction solves that issue with a 6-hour co-operative story! Two months prior to Sam Fisher's story, Daniel Sloane-Saurez (codesign Archer) and Mikhail Loskov (codename Kestrel) are sent to St. Petersburg, Russia to investigate how rogue Russian Intelligence operators have been stealing EMPs and handing them out to the Russian mafia." If Sam Fisher is our panther, then these two guys are like a couple of Velociraptors taking down the herd." said Co-Op Game Designer Patrick Redding.
If that weren't enough, new challenge modes were revealed as well. There will be six different modes across six different maps. So far, four of these modes have been revealed, and they sound rather interesting. Hunter is essentially the Horde mode for Splinter Cell, where you must take down all the enemies on the map. Infiltration is similar to Hunter, but the player must remained undetected. Last Stand is when a player must defend an EMP from wave after wave of enemies. Finally, Face Off pits two players head to head with customizable AI for the enemies on the map. Meanwhile the maps will be four from the co-op levels and two exclusive to this mode.
