LittleBigPlanet 2 To Feature Toyota Product Placement

Product placement gets more and more ridiculous as time goes on. Advertisers have (relatively) recently realized that videogames are a ripe market that wasn't being utilized. And so, games like Madden feature the same advertisements as a typical NFL football broadcast, and those connected to Xbox Live get treated to updated advertisements like NBC's The Cape iPad Giveaway promotion popping up every now and again at the bottom of the screen during games.

But this? It'd be like watching Commander Shepherd hop in a new ship and say, loudly, "No, we don't need the Normandy. This is a Toyota Hybrid Z-Class Reaver Destroyer. Gets a million more miles per fuel cell than the Normandy ever did."

Ridiculous, right?

Upon release, players of LittleBigPlanet 2 players will be able to download some free content, courtesy of Toyota. The content includes a dynamic XMB theme and Toyota Prius-themed level for the game. Within the level, players can unlock most of the unique content, which they can then use to build their own Prius-themed levels. Oh, and there's some kind of contest or something.

All the details can be found here in the most recent Pulse. The bit about the Toyota content comes in around the 1:50 mark.
