New Super Mario Bros. Wii Becomes Fastest Selling Single-Platform Game to Hit 15 Million

New Super Mario Bros. Wii has just set a sales record. According to a report from VGChartz, last month's sales put the game over 15 million in a short seven months. Modern Warare 2 is currently the leader in multi-platform sales, though it has not yet reached 15 million on either the Xbox 360 or the PS3. Over all it has reached just over 19 million in its seven months on the shelves.

It's unsurprising, really, that a Wii title takes this record. There are unarguably more Wiis out there than any other console and a game like New Super Mario Bros. Wii resonates well with most of their market. I'd love to see The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword take this record right back for a more "core" title, but I doubt that will be the case.
