DJ Hero 2 Confirmed for October Release
Update: Well, that didn't take long, now did it? Activision just put out a press release that officially announces the October release and gives a few more details.
First off, the game will now feature microphone support, which is an interesting turn. With the scratches and cuts, I wouldn't have imagined they would have anybody singing these parts. A short listing of artists in the game includes Dr. Dre, The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna while promising "over 85 others." The game is said to feature several new multiplayer modes, including DJ Battles, which features tracks written specifically for that purpose. Activision is claiming "heightened creative input" with more freestyle application of scratching, crossfading, and sampling. Finally, the sequel will feature a career mode (Empire mode), which is something the first game lacked.
Original: An XBL Marketplace release has revealed that DJ Hero 2 is set to release this October. The information comes from a song pack released for the game entitled "DJ Hero 2 mix." The pack features Lady Gaga and popular DJ Deadmau5, also confirming them to be featured in the sequel.
The description in the Marketplace:
DJ Hero is giving you a taste of the never before heard mixes that will be released with DJ Hero 2 this October. For a limited time only, download 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga vs. 'Ghosts 'n' Stuff' by Deadmau5. This one is on us! But you gotta get it by June 7th and then it's gone until DJ Hero 2 releases this Fall.
The DJ Hero website was updated earlier with a message saying there will be "big DJ Hero news today," so we can expect an official announcement later.
I really enjoyed DJ Hero and feared that a lack of commercial success would put a stop to any sequels. It's good to see that the earlier confirmations are more set in stone by a projected release date.
