DOTA 2 Announced by Valve

DOTA 2 Announced by Valve

Valve is known for its hit fps titles, Half life 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-strike, and Portal, so it may come as a surprise to fans that Valve has just announced DOTA 2 for PC and Mac.

For those that find this title familiar, that is because the original DOTA, or Defense of the Ancients, was a custom map for Warcraft 3 in which you choose one character, or “hero” and fight alongside team mates in order to defeat the opposing team by using a diverse set of skills, items, and spells.

After the original DOTA became a huge success, (it’s still played in tournaments around the world today) the founders of it became the independent studio called IceFrog and were hired by valve. They are now working on DOTA 2 and if all goes as planned; it is to have a release date some time during 2011
