PS3: Hope may still exist...

PS3: Hope may still exist...
Since computers are set to GMT by default, the current time is right around 11pm on March 1st. A huge rumor being speculated around all the techies is that the fat PS3's think that today is February 29th. This day doesn't exist, this year, and therefore sent the system into a crazy, suicidal, downward spiral.

I may have some anti-depression meds for your system. Read on!

In this theory, the system will think that it is March 1st in approximately one hour (do the math, depending on your time zone, for an exact time), thus reverting the fatties back to a time that exists and fixing the problems. Of course, this would cause the system to be a day behind, but as long as we're able to get online, an update containing a fix can be downloaded, if one is provided.

As I said, this is just a theory. We don't know the answer until GMT hit's midnight, 3/2/2010. So stay tuned, and let me know if this works! The world is waiting, Sony!

If a fix does not occur at that time, stay tuned anyway, as I have a couple of sources who confirmed fixing the problem themselves. This will, however, involve opening her up, so I wouldn't advise it if you're still within warranty. But if your model's old like mine, and you're not afraid to crack her open, and the problem doesn't fix itself in just under an hour, come back to read more shortly thereafter.

The candlelight vigil continues...

NOTE: The official Sony stance is that you do not turn on your system until official instructions to do so have been given. Do this at your own risk!
