College professor Dmitri Williams has joined a large crowd of researchers that likes to study video games and their impact on society. He has completed a study about women and their computer gaming habits. This time the focus is on a theory that female video game players are more hardcore then their male counterparts when it comes to playing online video games, especially games that feature a MMORPG fantasy subject matter.
Apparently the average female gamer logs 29 hours per week playing her favorite game versus 25 hours for the average male gamer. The top female gamers played for 57 hours per week while the top male gamers logged 51 hours.
If you think that female children are doing the most game playing then think again because the average age of respondents to this study were 31 years of age. Williams had 7000 logged in female game players respond to his request for information so a rather large sampling has been achieved.
In addition, Williams has uncovered a rather disturbing piece of information while doing his research. He has uncovered evidence that women lie more then men do! That's right, you heard correct, professor Williams has uncovered a shocking truth that women lie to their friends and loved ones about how much time they actually play online games! I must say that I am quite shocked by this revelation. I thought that women only lied about their age, now we hear that they lie about playing video games too!
Williams, a professor at the University of Southern California apparently doesn't have much professing to do so he spends most of his time researching subjects that have little or no significance on anything.
Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things how much time females, or for that matter anyone plays video games? I think not. In addition, the way the sampling for this study was achieved would seem to be suspect.
Women aren't the only game players that lie to questions from strangers. How can you be absolutely sure that the person on the other side of the line is indeed a female and not a male masquerading as a female? This question would seem to punch a few holes in the results of this study. In order to get a true sampling the researcher needs to be face to face with the subject. This would insure that most of the info garnered is true.
