What Mario will get you for Christmas?

What Mario will get you for Christmas?
Tired of telling your relatives what you want for Christmas? Get Mario to do the job for you! Who better to help you speak up about your love for Nintendo DS games than the significant Nintendo video game character Mario himself?

The site will allow you to build a wish list and send it as a hint to your loved ones in an e-card with special holiday designs. This feature will be available through the end of December.

I personally just used this for giggles, but this is a good way to hint holiday ideas to friends and family.

4% of games make profit

4% of games make profit
Electronic Entertainment Design and Research Company has said that only four percent of videogames sent to market actually make a profit.

They later go on to explain some interesting facts about sales and what affects different game types have on the sales.

60 percent of a game's budget is spent "reworking or redesigning" it. Implementing a co-op mode is claimed to boost sales by 12,400, while a multiplayer mode could add 25,000 copies to a game's sales roster. That's about $1 million in revenue, so as long as the cost isn't greater than the profit.

Reasons for such a low profit:

Down loadable content
Multiplayer modes
Selling pre-owned copies
Cross platform sales

PS3 Trophies compulsory from 2009

PS3 Trophies compulsory from 2009
Sony has confirmed that Trophy support for PS3 games will be mandatory from January 2009. At the moment, Trophies have been optional to developers, until now.

This means for multiplatform games, people who enjoy earning achievements if they owned both consoles would most likely pick the 360 version for the achievements. But now Sony is putting an end to that, confirming that in January all games must have Trophy support as standard.

This means that only games after the release of January 1st will be affected by this. This does not include those set to release after January 1st that have already been produced.

World Of Warcraft, Risk To Your Health?

World Of Warcraft, Risk To Your Health?
A young boy of 15 was taken to the hospital after collapsing while playing World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. He reportedly had played the game for fifteen hours straight and he had only had 2 hours of sleep and almost nothing to eat the entire time (Eating in the game does not count as food).

"He played all day and all night" his father told the reporters.
The boy began to feel cramps and then eventually begun to have an epileptic seizure, his terrified parents promptly called for help and the boy was rushed to hospital.

Hopefully the child is all right and the parents will have learned their lesson by limiting his time in front of the computer, which is exactly what they should do if he can't limit it himself.

Street Fighter II HDR Release Date Confirmed (XBL)

Street Fighter II HDR Release Date Confirmed (XBL)
Capcom has recently announced a released date for the new Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, yes the name is a bit of a mouth full but it certainly sounds overwhelming. Street Fighter is set to release on the Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday.

Capcom have said that there is still no word on when the release will be for the Play Station Network, although I think it will be sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Having watched the Street Fighter Animated movie just recently I am quite looking forward to downloading this on the Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday.

Most Played Online – Gears Of War 2

Most Played Online – Gears Of War 2
To be honest I thought this would happen, Gears of War 2 has topped the Xbox Live most played charts for the week (ending November 10th).

The fast paced shooter chainsawed its way to the top beating the expertise of Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3, which have been around the top for a fairly long time.

The top 5:

1. Gears of War 2
2. Call of Duty 4
3. Halo 3
4. CoD: World at War
5. Left 4 Dead Demo

National Geographic games, The NGG

National Geographic games, The NGG
National Geographic Games will produce a number of new titles that tie-in with its magazine content, beginning with Herod's Lost Tomb. This will be available online as a free flash title or as a downloadable game for PC, Mac and iPhone.

NGG is a combination of Namco, Bandai and Sony, which means we will have some promising game titles. The role of NGG is to create "fun, high-quality games" aimed at inspiring people to care about the planet and think green.

NGG also go on to say they aim to "reach a new generation of consumers and families" with the games, which will hit Nintendo platforms, PS3, PC and mobiles.

Let's just hope those fury fun loving animal's keep us interested.

Xbox 360 Laptop

Xbox 360 Laptop
Ben Heckendorn is an engineer who never fails to amaze with the hacking and moding he does to this gen's consoles, games and controllers.

This piece of work is by far the most brilliant creation to date. He tore down a Xbox 360, added a 17 inch HD monitor, a water CPU cooler, and an ultrathin keyboard to create the Xbox 360 Laptop. This is truly a piece of art, and you must see it to believe it.

Lich King Raids Downed

Lich King Raids Downed
That was incredibly fast. World of Warcraft's latest expansion hasn’t been out for long at all and already three new 25-man raids have been annihilated.

For those of you that might be new or are just interested in the news, there were two top ranking guilds, one know as the mighty 'Nihilum' who were known for being world first to defeat Illidan and then there is SK Gaming known for defeating 'Kill Jaeden'.

Since the release of Wrath of the Lich King the two guilds merged to form a super guild. The guild is now known as 'TwentyFithNovember' and they have already cleared Eye of Eternity, Naxxramas and Obsidian Sanctum all this was done by Saturday which is 3 days within release of the new expansion.

The main question people will now be asking is will the raid content be to easy? Or are Blizzard taking a step down to make it easier for casual players to complete higher raid content?
Of course I understand SK Gaming and Nihilum have long since dominated the game, having become one with their server, but three days is completely insane. I expect some difficulty tuning coming in the near future.
