What the heck is up with Altar?

What the heck is up with Altar?
UFO: Aftermath and UFO: Aftershock were okay-ish but they did not live up to the original two games (I conveniently forget Apocalypse, it was a turd of a game). Now Altar is working on UFO Afterlight and boy, are they making an ugly game!

Okay, so we (gamers) complained that the previous two UFO games were too far removed from the 'spirit' of the original games. The originals had a somewhat 'cartoony' feel to them, had base building, research and running your economy was MUCH more fun in the originals than it was in what Altar likes to call 'The spiritual successors to'.

Altar's response to these complaints? Well, at first, none. AfterShock was marginally better than Aftermath in that base management had improved somewhat, but other than that, it was hardly any better.

But now they seem to have listed, and are going over the top completely. Check out these screenshots of the game and then return here.

See what I mean? Just about the only thing that I think they succeeded with, is the graphics of your team at the bottom. What the heck is up with the rest!!!???

Am I meant to take that game seriously as a game for adults? Or is it not meant as a game, but as an engine to create cartoons for kids with? I know we want a little bit cartoony but were they listening at all? We asked for a 'l-i-t-t-l-e' bit cartoony.

Is it just me, or have these people lost touch with reality, with what gamers want? I'll withhold final judgment until the game comes out but for now, I'd say this game will turn out even worse than Apocalypse.
