Two Times the Evil on the 3DS
Nintendo's 3DS has one damn impressive line up, with games like the Ocarina of Time Remake, and Street Fighter 4, you have every reason to be psyched. Well I've got two more for you. CAPCOM is serving up a double dose of Horror with Resident Evil Revelations, and Resident Evil Mercenaries.
The two games have been shrouded in complete mystery, that is.....until now....Japans Famitsu has exploded with content for both of these games, letting me and you know why and what we should be excited for.
The Mercenaries game is exactly what it sounds like, taking the bonus mini missions that began in RE3 and creating a game out of it with the classic zombie killing, time attacking gameplay you've come to love...or hate. CAPCOM isnt just giving us more of the same though, so don't go jumping the gun just yet. Apparently there will now be WiFi co-op modes with playable characters Chris Redfield, little sister Claire, Jill Valentine, Jack Krauser and Hunk.
On a side note, how is Hunk STILL fucking alive, seriously, and why does he follow Chris and Jill EVERYWHERE. The guy needs to find a new profession, seriously, umbrella was disbanded, get over it man.
The aiming mechanic will also be changed, switching players from the traditional third person, to a first person view when aiming, apparently also giving players the ability to move while shooting. No word yet on exactly how this will work or be implemented, but its about damn time CAPCOM, seriously, its 2010.
Customizable skins, weapons and upgradable skills are only a few of the goodies you can expect from the Mercenaries port to the 3DS, which i must stress is pure, 100% gameplay, no story mode here fellas.
That brings me of course to Resident Evil Revelations, this game on the other hand is attempting to resuscitate the survival horror aspect that the Resident Evil franchise has lacked in its latest installations. This game will give players the more traditional and nostalgic feeling of what Resident Evil truly was about, scaring the living crap out of you, and ruining your new trousers. It may be hard to believe but maybe someone finally told Chris Redfield that this was a horror game, not Rambo.
Seriously, has anyone seen that guys biceps, anyone who can punch someone in the face and cause their face to explode, needs to seek help.
Anyway, Revelations will utilize its 3D feature to have creatures jump at you, blood spurt out, and cause some serious scares. I for one cant wait to get my hands on the Resident Evil survival horror that I've missed, for so, so long. Are you ready for some portable 3D scares?
