Red Faction: Battlegrounds Announced

Don Whiteford, THQ Digital creative director, announced Red Faction: Battlegrounds at GDC today. Unlike previous games, though, Battlegrounds is a vehicle combat game which will be significantly different from the predecessors.

It's being developed by the people behind Juiced and will have a top down view. Multiplayer fans will be happy to know that it will allows four players to play locally on one screen. Interestingly, it will be released as a download game, hitting both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. No word on a price or release date yet.
