Woah! GT5 Sells 2.4mn In Just 4 Days!
The undisputed king of racing simulators proves its entitlement to the crown by selling a staggering 2.4 million copies during its first 4 days. Of that, 1.5 million copies were pre-ordered in Europe alone.

It steals the top of the chart from Black Ops in the UK, Germany, Spain and France. Considering this is a PS3 exclusive as well, this is an enormous achievement.

The stats break down like this:

EMEAA: 1,841,500 copies (Europe Mid East Africa Asia)

Japan: 430,707 in first week

Americas: 382,000 copies.

To date, more than 55 million copies of the games in the GT franchise have been sold worldwide, making it the most successful Racing and Playstation game of all time. Despite the amount of criticism of the game in the last few days, it goes to prove that it was all just because you love the franchise so much.

It seems the launch of the game has had a profound effect on PS3 sales in Japan with the week of GT5's launch seeing figures of PS3 sales rise to 68,840 from 29,058 in the previous week. It still could not outsell the PSP in Japan though, god forbid they release a version of GT5 on the PSP!
