Black Ops Multiplayer Teaser Trailer Released!

Prepare to get very excited! Treyarch have unleashed their first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops' multiplayer mode. Revealed in the trailer are new killstreak rewards, maps and weapons but being a teaser there are no details. Watch out for the end of the trailer which seems to point towards a video playback and editing tool, similar to Halo's theater mode! The trailer also states that more is to be revealed on September 1st.

What excites me the most is the look of the game, in particular those explosions, and the new features. The weapon that stands out the most to me is the blowpipe, although the explosive crossbow also looks very cool. As far as killstreak rewards go you can see the RC car with a bomb, the care package remains although I am sure it has been tweaked considering the problems Infinity Ward had with it. About halfway through the trailer there is also a large wall of fire spread over the battlefield, this has to be napalm which is more than likely a killstreak reward and it looks awesome! The camera seems to me to be a perk of some kind rather than a killstreak reward as he places the camera down before and then gets first blood meaning it can't possibly be killstreak related. I imagine you can place it somewhere but instead of shooting the target for you like the sentry gun, it gives you a small window so you can see where the camera is looking, unfortunately I imagine this would promote camping but I am not getting into that childish debate.

The other most exciting feature in the trailer which is a very good move by Treyarch is the video playback tool at the end of the trailer. if you don't know, Call of Duty is a very popular online series and many players release montages of their best plays. This tool will most likely allow players to review their gameplay and record and save footage to their hard drives. I also assume their will be an option to share these video clips with other friends and other members of the community, so I hope there will be a clips browser that will allow you to search, download and rate clips from your console rather than having to go on your PC. The very last seconds of the trailer seem to also reveal an editing tool that allows players to sequence clips together as a montage. I foresee this being a very popular move amongst the community as it will enable all players to create their own montages for people to see, a very innovative and smart idea in my opinion. All in all, although I thought I had become bored of Call of Duty, I was proven wrong when viewing this trailer for the first time. Damn game publishers and their manipulative techniques.
