How could I not pick this up as soon as it came out? One of my most anticipated sequels, regardless of whether or not there was really a need for it.
A young gamer raised by young parents, only insuring I'd have something to play as soon as I could handle a controller. I've played them all, from the ColecoVision up through the current gen, skipping only a few along the way.

Although the European release date was revealed back at the beginning of May, no US release date had been announced until today. With three new videos about the game's story, new features, and multiplayer (look for those on our YouTube channel as soon as we can get them up), Konami has finally announced that Ninety Nine Nights II(also known as N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights) will be hitting the US on June 29th.
Tech blog Gear Live has posted a rumor that Microsoft will be announcing a partnership with Hulu to bring the website's library to the Xbox 360. According to a "very reliable source (who has never been wrong before)," Microsoft will unveil this feature at E3. While it's not totally surprising on the part of Hulu or Microsoft that this is happening, the details are a little disappointing, if they prove to be correct. Gear Live is claiming that this will be the start of Hulu's subscription-based plans, meaning Xbox 360 owners would have to pay another subscription fee on top of a Gold Membership and Netflix, for those that are utilizing that as well.
Looks like we'll just have to wait until E3 to see if this proves true. Personally, I'm hoping that this will be free to Gold members (yeah, right).
Welcome to the Indie Spotlight! Once a week, roughly, I’m going to be grabbing a random game off of the Xbox Live Indie Marketplace and putting it through its paces. As opposed to a traditional review, I’ll write something a little shorter that will come without any score or any of that. So, we start off the first week with a little-known recent release called Meds.
Meds is another brickbreaker-style game that comes with a few interesting twists. The player is supposed to be a heavily-medicated mental patient who stumbles into an arcade after his medical transport crashes. Out of all the games in the arcade, the patient feels compelled to play Mega Break Destroyer. This is where the game really begins.
Well, well. It looks like Halo: Reach's release date might have slipped out a little earlier than Bungie intended, if Amazon has anything to do with it. I woke up this morning with an e-mail from Amazon(screen capture after the jump) concerning my order, telling me that they finally had an estimated arrival date. Now, their estimated arrival date for me was September 7, but given that it's still for two-day shipping, that puts the release on September 5th.
Update: However, Amazon has listed the release date as September 1st on their site. The problem with both of these dates, though, is that neither of them is a Tuesday. I know games don't strictly release on Tuesday, but that's the norm. The 1st is a Wednesday and the 5th is a Sunday. Just one more reason to take this rumor with a grain of salt.
What do you think? Does Amazon really know what they're talking about, or is it just speculation on their part?
Despite being accidentally confirmed over Xbox Live, there was still something for Cliff Bleszinsky to show off on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and that was a first look trailer/teaser. It's in a similar vein to the first trailers for the last two games, but is that really a problem?
For those of you wondering, the trailer's song, which I have personally fell in love with, is titled "Heron Blue" and it's by Sun Kil Moon.
Though Bleszinsky originally said the game would probably come out April 8, he was off by a few days. Microsoft has listed the game's release as April 5 for North America and Asia, April 7 in Japan, and April 8 does still come up, but that's for the European territories. No release date in site for our Aussie friends?
Microsoft has officially announced that the Xbox 360 will be getting updated to support USB flash memory in a few short weeks. Major Nelson made the announcement on his blog and has been personally testing the feature for the past few weeks. He assures us all that it's "really great." He goes on to detail the new feature, though not completely.
As promised, the biggest batch of free DLC to hit Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network is out to all users today. For reference, here's Bioware's description of the pack:
Download the Firewalker pack and gain access to 5 new missions featuring the Hammerhead. The Hammerhead is a heavy assault vehicle that hovers over the battlefield at up to 120 kilometers per hour and features a guided missile system ensuring accuracy even during aggressive maneuvering.
The Alternate Appearance Pack, the first paid DLC pack, is also available today, for 160 Microsoft Points ($2).
The first paid DLC for Mass Effect 2, Kasumi's Stolen Memory, has finally been priced. The DLC is slated to release on April 6, a few short weeks away. The content will run gamers 560 Microsoft Points, which comes to $7 in real money. Less expensive than one might have though, but still more expensive than hoped. Given the amount of free DLC Bioware has given us, regardless of its variable usefulness, makes it hard to complain that we finally have to pay for some of it.
The first paid DLC for Mass Effect 2 was announced today, and it serves to confirm and enhance some details that had already been heavily rumored. The new DLC is titled "Kasumi's Stolen Memory" and while it does add Kasumi to the game, it also features a new, roughly 90-minute heist mission. The good news for those of us that have beaten the game? Since the game allows the player to continue on after finishing the main storyline, this quest will be available in that end-game free roam.

Seems Jack Ryan never really left Rapture, at least in spirit. His legacy has lived on, and some of Rapture's inhabitants (where were they all when Jack could've used some help?) have paid him tribute.

In their third quarter financial conference call, Ubisoft revealed some more details about the next Assassin's Creed title. We already know that the game is going to feature some form of online mulitplayer (then again, what game doesn't these days? I'm looking at you, Bioshock 2!), but now we also know the setting. That's right, Ezio will be stalking around Rome when the next installment of the series hits sometime before the end of March, 2011.

As many of you may know, the military "is a PC." And when it comes to training soldiers, the PC is used. But, if the military had had their way, training would now be taking place on a console. The big issue was convincing the console-makers that this is a good idea.
According to Danger Room, Roger Smith, chief technology officer for PEO STRI, the Army command responsible for purchasing training equipment, is saying Microsoft refused to sell him consoles. Apparently, Smith met with Microsoft reps in 2006 at a trade show, in order to negotiate the bulk purchase of Xbox 360 consoles for use as training equipment. And Microsoft declined.

Bioware's already coming through with more DLC for Mass Effect 2. Although, while many of us have been hoping that the next offering would be the hammerhead tank and a handful of new missions, that's not the case just yet. No, this time we're being given...new armor! Of course, the download will be made free of charge for members of the Cerberus Network. No word on whether or not it will be free for everyone else, or will be the first piece of optional, paid DLC for non-CN users.

It seems that GameStop has managed to confirm something that Square Enix has not, as of yet. It seems downloadable content will be coming to Final Fantasy XIII. Who would think that a little thing like case images would be able to reveal so much?
On Gamestop.com, the back of the case for the 360 version is now viewable. Upon inspection, one notices that it has all of the usual features that would be expected of a 360 game. What wouldn't be expected is the little box with the orange text: game-content download. Square Enix has been asked about DLC for Final Fantasy XIII before, but said no more than that they were considering it, but nothing was definite. Certainly seems more definite now.
