UK and Japan Getting DSi Price Cut, Japan Gets New Colors
The DSi will be getting a price cut in the UK on June 18 and Japan on June 19. Nintendo has announced that the cost of the DSi to retrailers will be lowered, but not by how much. And they've said that "The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by the retailers." The Japanese price cut comes in a little more details. The DSi LL (Japan's name for the DSi XL in Europe and America) will be getting cut from ¥20,000 ($217) to ¥18,000 ($195). The original DSi will now sell for ¥15,000 ($163), which is down about 22% from ¥18,900 ($205).
That's not all that Japan's getting, though. Along with the price cut comes three new colors for the DSi LL: blue, yellow, and green. As of now, Nintendo has no intentions of making these colors available outside of Japan. Whether or not this cut is coming to the US is still to be determined, as Nintendo of America is keeping quiet on the question. If the cuts do come to the US, it might finally be time for me to pick up a DS of my own...
